Study of the Influence Factors for Ballistic Performance of Glass Fiber Reinforced Composites

Abstract The study prepares glass fiber reinforced composites through Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion (VARI) process, selects fibers of different specifications, and studies the effects lay-up mode, thickness, simulated normal incident angle, temperature s on their ballistic performance. Results show that with slimmer monofilament, materials perform better in ballistics; mode has limited influence performance; relationship between thickness performance is positively linear; angle parabolic. Compared room conditions, does not decrease even increases slightly under low temperatures. Yet, decreases sharply at high
